Extracurricular
Activities

Our curriculum is supported by a range of extracurricular activities that help your child develop new skills and enhance their learning experience. At Smart Cookies, we implement a variety of extra-curricular activities that support the national Early Years Learning Framework. Some of these activities include interactive learning through music, sport, library visits and science activities.

Munch & Move

Munch & Move is NSW Health initiative that supports the healthy development of children, by promoting physical activity, healthy eating and reduced small screen time (TV, mobile devices and computer games). We’re trained to deliver this program in our early learning centres and provide your child with nourishing foods and play-based learning activities that will help your child lead a healthy life and maintain a healthy weight. The Munch & Move program is naturally integrated into our curriculum and is provided at no extra cost to our families.

ELLA Program

We’re proud to have a dynamic team of educators from a range of cultures and backgrounds. Many families ask us to communicate with their children using words from their native language and we’re happy to incorporate these language lessons into the child’s individual education program.

This allows the children to identify, respect and be proud of their language. The ELLA program allows children to become exposed to different languages and cultures in a play based program. The lesson includes numbers and counting, letters of the alphabet as well as colours and basic vocabulary that is introduced in the language chosen for the year (such as Arabic, Chinese or Spanish).

Ready Steady Go Kids

Ready Steady Go Kids is a fun sports and exercise program focused on increasing children’s gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and balance. All equipment is modified for children’s ages and made at their size.

The sports include AFL, Tee Ball, Cricket, Athletics, Tennis, Soccer, basketball or golf. The instructors also lead and educate the children on important features including team building and sportsmanship. Delivering a combination of physical and emotional benefits, the Ready Steady Go Kids program is designed to build confidence and self-esteem, providing a platform of knowledge and boosting school readiness skills.

The program also incorporates basic counting and colour concepts, encourages team work and sportsmanship, builds social skills and develops listening skills and concentration, all of which improves your child’s preparation for school.

Ultimately throughout the program, the children develop  greater self-confidence, enhanced self-esteem and a real sense of achievement, all of which shape their physiological wellbeing.

Incursions + Excursions

At Smart Cookies Early Learning Centre, we believe that incursions and excursions are a vital part of a child’s learning and development. We focus on incursions that touch on music & movement, wildlife, healthy eating, developing curiosity through magic.

We also love embracing the children’s exploration by taking them on excursions such as to the park, the train station, and local community initiatives like the Woolworths discovery tour!

Parent Involvement Sessions

Children learn in many ways, and what better way to teach them than having  our Smart Cookies parents sharing their skills! Parents are the first teachers to our children! This is why we love encouraging parents to be involved in our curriculum decision making by volunteering their time too come in an share their expertise or hobbies and talents with their children and their classes. This is a great way to broaden children’s minds and share a sense of family with the children are as simple as reading a story, planting a tree, wood work or cooking experience.
